TxDOT just held a public meeting for Loop 288 on the west side of Denton, From I-35, southwestward, across US 380, then southeastward to IH 35W. Right now, they are planning to build frontage roads for a future freeway. No Schematics are included on the page. I'm wondering how it will tie in to US 380, given that US 380 is now planned to be routed over N LOOP 288. The map shown by local media does not show the needed connection between US 380 west and LOOP 288 north

It'll be impossible to make Loop 288 a true continuous loop without bulldozing a bunch of subdivisions. TxDOT will come back in a few years and look to "bypass the bypass"  with a new route south of 380, probably along Mayhill Road.

The schematic for planned improvements to IH-35 at Loop 288 north show provisions for a full multilevel interchange. A little further north at FM 3163, the design has accommodations for another major interchange. It isn't clear to me what would be routed on FM 3163, but it would probably be an extension of the Collin County outer loop. Any such extension is somewhat speculative and very long-term.

Even Mayhill Road may be a difficult option. At least the existing northern half of Loop 288 is do-able for a complete freeway conversion.

Will University become US 380 Business? or will they just hand it over to Denton for county/city maintenance?
