Note the three-way stop sign at the 41/49 jct (where there is currently a traffic signal in 2024)

I'm not seeing a video.  Maybe you forgot to embed it?

Looks pretty similar today with some exceptions:

-  There was only a stop sign at Road 426 (my wife's office was there).
-  Kentucky Fried Chicken and A&W aren't there anymore.
-  There is a lot more modern hotels along the southbound lane past the 3:30 mark.

The driver sounds like your typical townie I'd expect in Oakhurst.  He knows everyone's martial issues and legal problems with Madera County.

There are ten stoplights on the 41 between Fresno and Yosemite (back in '86, you would not encounter a single stoplight from the 99 north all the way to the south gate)

The odds of the 41 being upgraded to freeway from Fresno to Oakhurst (let alone all the way to Yosemite) is nil.

Likely there will come a time where 41 gets the four lane treatment from Children's Boulevard to CA 145.  Tesoro Viejo and Riverstone are already causing traffic issues.
