I'd like to find one that says "if you'd like it for non-commercial use, go ahead and yank it and set it as your desktop and/or birdcage liner - but for all commercial purposes, contact me and we can work out terms of sale". Is that possible on flickr?

that makes sense, thanks! Seeing as I have the huge versions available for download, people can yank 'em all they want. (And if they steal them for commercial purposes, there's a good chance I'll never find out, but that is neither here nor there!)

okay, I am not a legal eagle, which of these options reflects CC-BY-NC?

those are Flickr's options. (As for creating derivative works, I'd go by the same breakdown - go ahead and do it non-commercially, but if you want to use my image commercially, in whole or in part, then we talk.)
