Title: Newfoundland Labrador travel
Post by: leroys73 on January 02, 2013, 01:22:08 PM
NE Canadian friends,
I am planning a motorcycle trip from Texas to the Maritime Provinces including Newfoundland and Labrador the summer of 2013.  I am somewhat flexible on the dates from late May to mid September.  Many years ago I traveled by car up there the last of July to mid August, good trip, but not Newfoundland or Labrador.  This was before the bridge to PEI.  Any info on the ferrys, weather, and the flys would be welcomed.  I plan to camp some and hotel some.  When would you say is peak tourist season as this may make lodging harder to obtain?
Thank you

Late May to Mid September is tourist season with the peak in July and August. Fly season isn't too bad in the Maritimes from mid July on......a bit later in Newfoundland.....and even later in Labrador!

Marine Atlantic replaced their fleet with larger ferries a year ago and it's now much easier to get reservations in peak season.

Here's a link to a thread about 20 down from this one about an upcomming trip to Newfoundland:
