Fluorescent pink signs

Someone in another mentioned the fluorescent pink incident management signs the MUTCD specifies. I've never seen them in real life. Has anyone else? Any pictures?

Well I've heard that some can be seen in Streetview around Minneapolis, MN because the pics were taken the day of the I-35W bridge collapse, and I've seen pictures somewhere on them used in Oklahoma City from its bombing in the 90s, but I've never seen them used in person before.

I don't believe I've actually seen them in person - there have been a couple times I've wondered whether some signs were pink or orange, but was too far away to get a good look.

Curious: When did the highlighter colors start coming on vogue?  Now i see fluorescent orange in construction zones, highlighter green-yellow on school zone signs, and now orange-yellow on warning/caution signs...''

I think it has to do with sign technology getting better.  The red-orange and yellow-orange are acceptable variants on construction signs to make them stand out more vs. the standard orange (which looks almost red).  Green-yellow is supposed to stand out more for pedestrian-related signs, even though to me it just looks rather unwell ("green in the gills", as you will).  Your "orange-yellow" is really just a dark shade of the standard yellow - not fluorescent, just a new sign technology with deeper/more prismatic color.  Finally, the fluorescent pink is an idea to make temporary signs look a little different than standard work zone signs.  I don't see a need for that given the use of the shades of fluorescent orange.

The pink signs are only used as temporary construction signs used for short-duration projects (like projects for just a few hours or a day). They are made with burlap or cloth or some material like that. I noted two sets of them yesterday used by survey crews.

Actually, the pink color is reserved in the MUTCD only for incident management use.  These would be for evacuations and the like, and shouldn't be used for construction purposes (although incident management signs may be orange instead of pink, as the allowed use of pink is relatively recent).

Yes, incident management signs can be orange.  But the basic idea I got from it is that anything very short-notice, short-duration, etc. could end up in pink.  I checked the MUTCD and didn't see any definition of what would fall under incident management.

Any chance the pink color is just a faded orange, at least in the case of the temporary burlap signs?

the only time I've ever seen pink signs for something other than a road or survey crew is in a picture of that time in Boston that the light-up guy with the middle finger was mistaken for a bomb.

Point taken.  I personally have never heard anything about Fluorescent pink signs.

I was just reminded, by the mention of pink signs, of the silliness of the occasion from the last time I saw them.

99% of the the time, though, I've just seen them say "SURVEY CREW".

But seriously folks, I think that I some of the temporary fabric "Road Work" (They don't like Road Construction down here for some reason.) and "Utility Work" signs have been pink.

I think the fabric signs are supposed to be orange, but the light shining through the cloth makes them appear pink sometimes. I certainly haven't seen any of the Pepto-Bismol hue the MUTCD prescribes.
