Bunch of wimpy rivers out east.

The Yakima River discharges 59,400 cu ft/sec into the Columbia River and is only 214 miles long.

Meanwhile, the mighty river closest to me discharges a whopping 0 cu ft/sec into the Gulf of California. :P

Charleston, WV is at a similar longitude to Jacksonville, FL, despite being an Appalachian city, while Jacksonville is on the Atlantic.

Similarly, Pittsburgh, PA, is further east than Miami, FL.

The Atlantic Coast of the US is a lot more diagonal than the Pacific Coast.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

Nah.  They're on the same longitude.

Nah.  They're on the same longitude.

Pittsburgh, at least the center of it, is just barely further east of Miami:

Either way, I doubt many people would think of the two as being (close to) the same longitude, given that one's on the Atlantic Coast and the other's very much not.

Pfft.  80 is 80 is 80...

Psst:  It's "Pittsburgh"...

Is it?  They look about the same to me, with the east beltway around Jacksonville still being slightly east of where the development for Charleston gets.

According to the gospel of Wikipedia, Charleston is one minute farther west than Jacksonville.

My source is a quick Google search, but I guess it depends on where you measure their coordinates from. I modified the post to be more accurate.

How about this one the number of times Long Island gets described as like the Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura and Monterey of the East Coast. How much of this is accurate and how much of this is movies and TV Shows making stereotype of a place for a national audience.

Road Hog

Long Island has long differentiated itself from the rest of New York State. Place names often use the abbreviation L.I. as if it were a separate state.

Any talk of states being split or having substantial border adjustments is purely hypothetical at this point.

Any such action would benefit one party over the other, and as such the disadvantaged party would block it.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

Certain splits may be possible via compromise. For example, if upstate New York splits from the New York City area in a way that upstate is very light blue, Democrats gain in the Senate but Republicans gain in the Electoral College.
