Are the Knicks for real this year?
They're for real gonna make the playoffs, but they're not contenders yet. They have gotten here with a pretty healthy lineup, while a lot of other contenders hovering several games over .500 are getting some key players back this week. The Knicks have to be this good with injuries to be elite without them.

Go Celtics! Hopefully, they can win 1 game verse the Nets...

There's a rumor going around that Alex Rodriguez, ex-Mariners shortstop, will move the Timberwolves to Seattle, where they'd become the "new" Sonics. But that may not come to pass as the current owner (Glen Taylor) wants to keep it in the Twin Cities, which was his original intention when he bought it at a time when they were rumored to move to New Orleans (which got a new team anyway).

I hate big market bias

I wonder why they dislike smaller markets? Smaller markets can have the image of the "little guy" or "underdog" or "Cinderella team" if it's well carefully marketed.

Yeah but on the other hand, Utah, Phoenix, Memphis, Denver, the Nets who still haven't won a NBA championship (althought the Nets had won 2 ABA championships before the ABA-NBA merger) and teams like Milwaukee and the NY Knicks who hadn't won a championship since a long while ago. It would be interesting to see a team winning its very first champinship like the Raptors in 2019.

I'll be happy for their fans if they win, but having one team be head and shoulders above the rest of the league is bad for the league. Right now without Harden, they are destroying the Bucks, giving them Harden tips the balance of the league to much in their favor.

I guess the 2 ABA championships they won in 1974 and 1976 before they join the NBA are close but no cigar?

I spotted this vintage clips of the Nets in the 1976 ABA finals.

Didn't the Nets have one of the worst records in the NBA the year after the last ABA season and their second title?

The answer you're looking for is right here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1976-77_NBA_season

In fact, the Nets' record (22-60, 11th in East) was the worst in the NBA that year. (The fact that Dr. J was sold to the rival Philadelphia 76ers and became a legend with them did not help matters either.) The Pacers fared little better at 36-46 (9th in West), but still missed the playoffs. However, the Nuggets (50-32, 2nd in West) and Spurs (44-38, 5th in East) did very well in their first year, and were playoff regulars more often than not. The Pacers didn't achieve that status until the Reggie Miller era in the 90s, and the Nets were the laughingstock of the league until they moved to Brooklyn, where they're finally coming into their own.
