US 71B in Fort Smith decommissioned, US 271 truncated

Do they still plan on implementing these changes?

Only thing I got on this is I found it odd that Towson and Wheeler are both state-maintained and they're about 4 blocks apart.

I haven't heard anything else about this in several years. I think the idea is to rebuild Towson and decommission US 71B and give it to the city for maintenance.
