The replacement of the 1924 camelback bridge on NB Okemos Rd. will soon begin. It's a real shame to see another one of these historic structures go.

I used to drive over that bridge to go to the Travelers Club and Tuba Museum, which I understand is now closed.
The camelback bridge on Cleveland Street (old US-16, even older M-16) near Nunica MI is still there.
The project is expected was expected to begin in the summer of 2021 and be completed in the fall of 2021. The estimated cost of the project is $7.2 million. The Ingham County Road Commission will be responsible for all costs associated with the project.
Bridge demolition (https://www.priestly.com/services/bridge-demolition) is not an easy task you know!!
This project includes the replacement of the existing northbound and southbound structures with a 5 lane, single span bridge including a pedestrian facility along the east side, along with bridge approach and Mt. Hope intersection reconstruction, traffic signal and sidewalk/ramp reconstruction.
The replacement bridge fully opened to traffic March 23rd, but not without a lot of drama and extra costs.
