Obviously, this is a nod to the 2064 thread.
If this forum had been around in 1964, what thread topics would there have been?  I'll start.

I could have answered "yes" to that question as late as 1991.

Funny enough, I drove down that exact street maybe a week ago or so...in retrospect, a strange choice for variable speed limit posting!  Skyline out there is a bit of a scenic route and not really a major commute access point, especially with 280 being completed 1968-1970 towards Daly City and the short Route 1 portion of the Junipero Serra Freeway at the SF border.

Current speed limit there is 50 MPH:

We had 7-digit dialing in the Bay Area for years, even after the 415/650 split!!!  I think only about two or three years ago did that finally go away for people in the SF and San Mateo County regions.

Oh, I meant before area codes/exchanges...wasn't it only 4 or 5 digits when dialing about 50-60 years ago? I first dealt with 10-digit dialing in 1995.

(and now I'm anachronistically failing the thread)

The original intent–at least on US-99E in 1964–was to warn or fog or other hazardous weather conditions, not traffic jams.

You may have missed the point.  I was using four-digit dialing as late as 1991.  The town I grew up in didn't begin using seven digits until the early 1990s.

That makes sense now that I think of it.  (Does get foggy out on that part of Route 35).  Having said that...still a relatively lightly traveled road compared to 99E/today's Business 80
