Quote from: WillWeaverRVA on October 10, 2024, 09:29:56 AMBetween the numerous severe tornadoes (including a possible EF4 in St. Lucie County, which would be the strongest tropical tornado on record if verified) and the insane backside winds associated with the sting jet that formed as Milton started losing tropical characteristics, Milton really did a number on central Florida. A crane collapsed into a building in St. Petersburg.

They didn't dissemble the crane?  Doesn't sound good.

That was my first reaction as well. Why wouldn't anybody think to take a crane down when a hurricane is approaching?
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

Nope, they typically let the cranes rotate freely in the wind, and it usually works out but not this time.

Here's another update. The media stupidly believes Gas Buddy will tell the truth when it comes to finding operational gas stations after the storm.

My cell phone still gives me pop-up weather alerts with flood warnings along the Withlacoochee River, Cypress Creek in southern Pasco County, and the Peace River in Bartow.
