Loved the pics, thanks.  I especially enjoyed seeing LaSalle's riverboat from the 60's Six Flags set.  Brought back good memories.

The set includes pics of I-35E (Stemmons N of downtown) in 1961. This was the year it opened. You will notice that the white signs appear old even though they are brand new, and the median is paved, and has mountable curbs, but no center barrier.
There are also a couple of pics with BUSINESS ROUTE US 80 signs in them.

Did not know Stemmons was 10 lanes wide from the beginning, good planning. Funny not seeing a cement barrier between the two freeways.

Those are some very interesting photos, with amazing quality on most images.

As I was clicking through and reached the Dealey Plaza photos, I was holding my breath that there would be a photo to answer one of the Dealey Plaza freeway sign mysteries which I attempted to solve in the DFW Freeways book.

In short: when the Stemmons Freeway sign was removed, the R.L. Thornton Freeway sign was modified or replaced, but there are no photographs of the front of the R.L. Thornton Freeway sign after the change. The R.L Thornton sign was removed about a year later.

But there was no good luck. The only view of the R.L. Thornton sign was of the back side. The mystery remains.
