Who else out there got addicted? Anyone need hints on how to get to 2048? I made it to 4096 once... and then 8192... and I can barely get back to 2048 again. I'm trying to quit now.

It will probably be forgotten after a few months.

I made it to 4096 once, after a day and a half of playing it constantly. That was enough for me and I haven't touched it since.

I'd love advice. I can get to 512 often and made it to 1024 once, but that's about it. I've started to develop patterns and am getting better at not trapping 2s and 4s, but it's only going so far.

I play Doge 2048 more than the original. I haven't gotten past the equivalent of 512 yet.

Doge 2048 is way better.

Tips
1) Chains
2) Don't be afraid to get the board sort of full in order to get the pieces you want
3) Once you build a chain, keep it going and stick to it, even if that means not clearing pieces. Focus all your energy on preserving the chain, and the rest of the board will fall into place. Don't deviate at all, unless it's clearly just a one move deviation.
4) Never move up

4) Never move up
More specifically, I've found the key is to pin your highest-numbered piece against a wall and never move it away from the wall (if you're never moving up, then you pin it against the bottom wall).

Use right and down arrows consistently to build a bottom row that's solid. Let's say you have 32-64-256-512 in the bottom row.
Then use LEFT and down arrows to build a second row. The second row feeds into the left cube. When the left cube becomes 32, hit DOWN and it'll make a 64. Hit RIGHT and you'll have 128-256-512. Your new goal is to get a 64 in that bottom left corner. Be patient, don't let a 2 get trapped there - build it up 2 at a time until it's bigger than the cubes on top of it. When you have a complete chain from 512 to 2, the next 2 will give you 1024 in the corner. Then build up the bottom row again and keep going.

EDIT: One further thought, as I go through a few moves. Never let a low number get trapped on the bottom two rows by a higher number. If it does, try to clear out the space on top of it. Keep working until that space is clear, and then build the low number up. It's painstaking, but then everything falls into place so quickly.

EDIT2: Also keep an eye out - never let yourself have a "rectangle" with 2 or 3 rows filled and 1 or 2 rows empty. That forces you to move your highest cubes off the bottom row, and you'll die.

Thanks everyone! I finally won, with a score of 35876 (and a 1024, 512, and 256 waiting) before I could go no further. I actually keep my highest number in the upper-left corner. Must be the programmer in me, since that's the (0, 0) position on a monitor. :p

Great, someting to waste my time with for the next week or two or four.

Got a one game with a 1024, a couple with 512. Need sleep.

How about a game where you collect 3, 5, 7 to make 105, and then start doubling: 210; 420 ...

As long as 15, 21, and 35 tiles exist. Otherwise, it would be way too hard.

I finally got to Derp Doge (the equivalent ot 1024) this morning and shattered my high score. The description of Doge 2048 seems to imply that the equivalent of 2048 is the end of it, unlike the original.

I don't know if it's my browser (Chrome 33 on Mac OS X 10.6.8), but once I get to 2048 on the original, the "You Won!" message doesn't go away. I can still play, but everything has an annoying yellow tint. Once I'm done done if it's after 2048, I don't get any notification - I just can't move anymore. Based on friends' screenshots, I'm alone in this.

Derp Doge is only 1024? Ugh!

EDIT: I got to Sunshine Doge. It lets me keep going.

I've beaten the Alanland-ish version, 2048 Numberwang. I might try Doge 2048 now...

Edit: Beaten Doge 2048 too!

Got Doge2048, with a final score of 24844.

2048 isn't the end of it, but I couldn't get near 4096 (which is unsurprising as 2048 is only halfway there).
