Back in August, I drove all 846 miles of US 285

Took about 500 photos along the way.  The best 300 or so are geo-indexed on this map, with links to the full-size version of each photo:

Hopefully that map is pretty intuitive, but this page gives detailed instructions and background info:

Like many of the longer US highways, this one goes through some contrasting ecological regions:

very nice work. interesting the vast amount of ecology one can learn from driving that one route! look forward to your next trip.

curious, the flickr photos have an older "taken on" date, were all of them from this past august or is it a compilation?

Thank you.  Yes, the Flickr set contains all of my US 285 photos (not just the ones taken during the August trip).  They are arranged by date taken; the first 40 or so were prior to this year.  When planning for the end-to-end trip, I didn't worry about stopping as frequently for photos in Colorado, since I live there.  Instead, the bulk of the Colorado photos were taken either 3 weeks before the trip, or within the 2-week period following the trip.  And since then, I also shot a bunch more during an October leaf-season drive.  The map serves as an index to all the decent photos, regardless of date taken, and I plan to keep updating it with any good shots that I get in the future.

That explains it.

Again nice work and look forward to future updates!
