Quote from: Strider on July 07, 2025, 04:05:07 PMI'm curious... based on so many bridge piers built on the photos, is it also the floodplains that I-69 will go across in addition to the Ohio River, or are they dry lands prior to the Ohio River?

floodplains

In general, there is no reason to build on piers approaching a river unless the land is either in a flood plain, a federally protected wetland, or both, where building on fill would have negative effects on flooding or environmental quality. Roads on structure are typically more expensive to build and maintain.

The NASCAR championship is totally illegitimate.  It is a random result.   It is a gimmick.  Comparisons to it and the real champions from before the "chase" are meaningless.

I have a question for you all.

What are your biggest signage annoyances in Oregon? Me personally, it's the ugly signs in Yamhill County with their awful font and overly small sizes.

Off-Topic / Re: Video Game Consoles
Last post by Bobby5280 - Today at 10:14:04 AM
I remember playing the Atari 2600 and Mattel Intellivision consoles from the early 1980's. One of my cousins had a ColecoVision console. I had an Atari 5200 Super System console; its port of Centipede looked like and sounded like the coin-op version, but the coin-op version was more play-able due to the vertical orientation of its monitor.

I never owned any Nintendo console. I did have an original PlayStation 3 model that could play Super Audio CD discs and was equipped with flash card slots; I lost it in a burglary and had to replace it with a PS3 "Slim" model. I still have that one. I mostly use it to play Blu-Ray movie discs. In the 1990's to early 2000's I was more into computer PC based gaming. I found it a lot easier to use a mouse and keyboard combo to play games like Quake 2 rather than use those little thumb stick game pad controllers.

I was tempted to buy one or more of those Arcade 1UP cabinets that were popular in recent years, but never bothered. The ones that included Williams Electronics hits like Defender and Joust failed to include my favorite Williams Electronics game, Robotron:2084. I loved playing that coin-op game and was good enough to play it for hours on one quarter.

My picture of 77/400 is buried somewhere in this forum, and I'm pretty sure it was hosted by Photobucket so who knows if it's even a thing anymore.

QuoteJuly 8: Post the junction of a US highway with a 0 in the tens place and a US highway with a 7 in the tens place.

I haven't been to Bemidji, Moorhead, or the middle of Kansas, so all my posts today come from the Carolinas.

US1 and US378 are concurrent in Columbia, SC

The interchange of I-95 and I-74 doubles as the junction of US74 and US301:

July 10: Post a junction of a US highway with a 0 in the tens place and a US highway with a 9 in the tens place.
July 11: Post a junction home to the meeting of two different US highways, each with a 1 in the tens place.
