Historic US route markers collection?

Does a collection of all known "Historic US Route" marker numbers (preferably with photos) exist? I've heard of or seen markers for US 30, 40, 66, 99 and 101. I have photos for 40 and 99 buried somewhere on my network drive.

I'll contribute a US 101 sign from San Diego: http://www.flickr.com/photos/therealkurumi/4423568099/

Here's a Historic 66 sign in Southern California from my photo collection:

Here's US 30:

I also have a US 89A from Arizona:

Finally, here's a blurry US 99W from California:

Here's a couple of Historic US 66 shields from Illinois...

the 99W is excellent.  Here is a better photo of one like it.

these shields are the best you'll find in California - they use the original 1949 specification patterns.  That more than makes up for that horrific choice of compressed Arial* for the "HISTORIC ROUTE" legend.

I've seen them in 66, 99, and 99W forms - alas, a lot of horrible shields abound in the state as well.  I will not dignify their existence by posting photos.  Here, instead, is a nice 66.

*I know it's not Arial, ScottN.  They're all equally awful.

Does anyone know if Oregon signs historic US 28 or US 126?

I have never seen either.  There are a few US-126 shields on OR-126 but they are not old; just errors.  Have never seen a US-28 shield, historic, error or otherwise.  I have only one old photo of such a thing.

photo is from 1948.

If Oregon were to sign historic US 28 and US 126, it would be interesting to see the resulting anachronistic duplex! Though, i would just as equally prefer OR-126 be reverted back to its former US route status, including the Eugene-Florence segment.

So you did cough up the $15.00 for the John Day photo.  Excellent!

The only reason Oregon has Historic 30 signed is because the Historic Columbia River Highway Commission decided the old signs were too hard to read, and they modeled the new ones after California's historic route shields.  I don't get the impression ODOT has any general interest in signing historic routes, especially since the two major routes, 99 and 126, still carry those numbers as state routes.

I can now point you toward ones in Oklahoma City with a separate banner indicating years, since there were multiple alignments through the city (Admiral Pl, 11th St, freeways). http://www.alpsroads.net/roads/ok/ok_66/o.html and scroll down.

I don't have a photo of it, but I recall the Historic US 99 sign somewhere near Figueroa Street a little bit away from downtown Los Angeles having the years marked on it too.  Not sure where this is done elsewhere, none of Historic US 40 in NorCal is marked as such.

Illinois marks the years - especially at junctions of two old alignments.

It seems like in places where multiple old alignments existed, this is absolutely useful.  I don't think California has quite evolved yet to the point that multiple old routings are being marked yet...

Not always.  The 1926, 1940, and 1956 routings are not marked by date in Will and Grundy Counties.  Only the original 1926 routing is fully signed even with the historic alignment signs in downtown Plainfield (1940 alignment).  The 1956 alignment, of course, is currently I-55.

I don't understand the historic significance of Business 441.  66, 99, sure.  395, eh, okay.  But 441?  Is there any particular reason it's signed that way?  Was it a route of that much importance?
