The overhead, yes.  The ground mounted "begin" sign, no.  "Begin" means that the route it's referring to starts at that moment.
This ISTHA sign says "hold my beer"

I-94 doesn't end here at all. It just took the Left fork at Tri-State/Edens Spur split, just north/before this sign

Honestly, I think it is just how ISTHA signs route designation changes. There is a similar sign also at the south end of I-294, saying "294 Ends. Begin 80 94"  Obviously neither I-80 nor I-94 begins in South Holland, IL, but that seems to be standard ISTHA practice

The only reason the north end of I-355 doesn't have a "355 Ends Begin 290"  sign is because the north end of 355 is IDOT's not ISTHA's

I see this false "I 4 Ends" sign daily and I want to yell at whoever signed off on it. I think the Toll Authority. No, it does not "end", it goes to the left. This confuses out of town drivers, wondering why it ended, if they are going to meet back up with 94 east of IL.

I 4???

I know it's a typo but a couple users on here think we all should have perfect spelling and grammar :bigass:
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

It's backlash against Florida's recent laws. Illinois is saying Florida's way of thinking ends here.
