Hey all!

Thought I would start a topic on posting photos of signs that have gotten quite a beating. Any kind of beating weather the sign/shield is banged up badly or the sign is badly faded! I'll start with a few:

Banged up sign:

where is that Reno/Placerville/Fresno sign?  Fresno is on 99, Reno is on 40, and Placerville is on 50!

One of the first photos I posted on Flickr was of a damaged sign.

This was damaged in some major storms early in 2007. It's since been replaced with a carbon copy Clearview sign.

Some more:

This has been fixed; the newer VA 54 shield has been screwed back into place.

This is now a Clearview sign.

Some of the locals in Chesapeake didn't like the first mention of VA 168 after crossing the VA/NC border...

I don't understand this. Other than yellowing, I can't see any difference between the old and new 54 shields  :-/

The sign underneath is badly faded (I took a peek when I took the photo). No idea why VDOT (which maintains Ashland's roads) didn't just replace it with a normal sign tree.

where was that "END" picture taken?  Too bad, there is no picture taken from the end of the bridge in the background!
I only take pics of good looking signs. Long live non-reflective button copy!

I mentioned this in chat. A local decided to smash this sign tree and steal the VA 195 shield from it. Not sure why they left the interstate shields...

This is why NYSDOT shouldn't install their signs the way they do. From the looks of most if not all freeway signs in NY, like they just put a bunch of normal sign metal and bolted them together! Very easy to break apart.

This is old US 71 in Fayetteville, AR. It was 71B, then became 471, then changed back to 71B following a transition period.
AHTD simply pasted a new panel over the old one, but the glue wore out ;)
