I was bored today and I drove from TH-Effingham on I-70. I-70 is posted 70 from the state line to Effingham. It is 65 in Effingham however. THe widening project in Effingham is 99% done. I-57/70 is actually 4 lanes each direction between exit 159-160.
Visited States and Provinces:
USA (48)= All of Lower 48
Canada (5)= NB, NS, ON, PEI, QC
Mexico (9)= BCN, BCS, CHIH, COAH, DGO, NL, SON, SIN, TAM

Haha. No. When I got to Exit 159 I turned around and went back to Terre Haute. I stopped in Marshall and got a large Hi-C for $1 (plus tax)  :D at McDonalds on my way back.

That run is a sign of real boredom.

Effingham has sure changed.  I remember making it up that way before 70 was complete and there wasn't much there. Even after 70 was complete for a few years. Actually not much in the way of services from St. Louis to Terre Haute back in the day. Marshall has an excellent hotel, Lincoln Inn. I'm staying there again this year for the Moonshine experience.

Used to be a couple older motels on US 40 east of town, but I think they're gone now.

I went through Effingham 2 days ago on my trip back from Florida on the way home to the Twin Cities, MN. Went this route since I wanted to clinch I-57 miles and had already driven I-64 between St Louis and Mount Vernon. Had a steak dinner at the Raintree restaurant and then continued on I-70 west to St Louis for the night .....
