Since it's most of the way through the day already, I'm not gonna make today's challenge one of my best or most accessible ideas.

You can submit photos from other sources; it doesn't have to be one you took personally.

Jim

I haven't made a challenge in a while, so I'll try one.  I don't remember doing this one before, but I wouldn't be surprised if we've done one or a close variation.

Along those lines, this sign warns drivers to make sure they won't run out of gas on I-664.

I recognized the photo, so I did a search for it. While the location is not given, he puts two photos in the same post here (reply #23), and the other photo narrows down the possibilities a lot.
Clinched, plus NH 38, MA 286, and MA 193

Traveled, plus
US 13, 44, 50
Many state routes

Lowest untraveled: 25

New: MA 193 clinched and a tiny bit of CT 193 traveled

My computer is currently under repair. This means I can't update Travel Mapping and have limited ability for the image threads.

San Diego isn't really much of a help as it's just the next control city. The actual location is Exit 144.

I uploaded some stuff for this challenge but didn't get to post it in time.  So:

A photo taken from aboard the Washington Island ferry, taken one year ago this month:

Photo taken from a WSDOT Ferry looking at the docking point onto Lopez Island.  This was an interim stop between Anacortes and my intended destination of Friday Harbor, so I took a picture of this while I waited aboard to continue.

Photo on another WSDOT Ferry, the Kingston-Edmonds Ferry.  I've also been on the Charlotte Ferry connecting VT and NY; the Dauphin Island Ferry in AL; the Ocracoke-Hatteras ferry in NC.

Those are some really neat roads/signs, and as a result it makes for a neat challenge. I don't think I ever realized that the Wisconsin Rustic Roads existed.

QuoteSeptember 7th: Post something unusual for the area it's in.

This picture is from Tom958's post in the "Your Opinion As A Motorist: Contrasting Lane Lines" thread:

Interstate 85 in Atlanta, GA after they rebuilt the bridge after the fire happened there several months ago now - the contrast striping on the left (on the double-dashed white lines) is what is normal for Georgia to use on concrete roads, but the kind on the right is not standard practice for Georgia - here on the I-85 viaduct in Atlanta (just northeast of I-75), after the closing for repairs, is the only location in Georgia where I have seen this kind of contrast striping used:

I cannot express in words how much I absolutely love these signs!!!!!  :spin:  :hyper:

My first contribution to this challenge is from off of Interstate 75 Southbound in the Chattanooga area right before reaching the interchange with Interstate 24 (which marks I-24's eastern terminus):

My second contribution to this challenge is from off of Interstate 85 Northbound in Georgia in the Atlanta Metro Area:
