50 signs in 50 states

a new game for those of us that like one- and two-digit route markers.  This one was come up with by HB Elkins; I've added a couple tiny modifications to make the game go on longer than it would otherwise.

QuoteYou start out by posting a state route 1 sign from a certain state. Someone follows up with state route 2 from another state. The idea is to get to 50 with one route represented from all 50 states. Then the game repeats with a different state being required for each route number. For instance, if the game starts off with Indiana 1, then when it recycles another state has to be used for SR 1. And if the first game is followed up with WV 2, then WV 2 can't be used in the second round. This could last only as long as the state with the fewest amount of numbered highways, and strategy would be important. For instance, I don't know how many numbered highways Alaska has, but let's say 12. If we are in the 11th reset of the game and someone posts a KY 12 sign, then the game would die the next time we made the rounds and Alaska could not be represented.

all pictures must be from the wild.  You need not have taken it yourself, though.

you may use route markers of all classifications - interstate, US, state, county, etc... but once a route number and state combination is used, it is eliminated forever (for example, Georgia US 27 will eliminate Georgia state route 27 as well.)

here's the fun part!  Photos have to make it obvious what state the sign is from!  So, if you want to post a sign that was used in multiple states (neutered US shield, Goddamn Circle, Boring Square, etc), it has to be accompanied by, say, a Welcome to Kentucky sign or a Maine state-named interstate shield.

oh, and no prefixed (H-1), suffixed (1-A) or otherwise modified other route numbers.  The number in by itself must be the entire designation for the route.

edit: additional rule - in the case of unresolvable hardship (say, running out of Alaska routes), a non-US-state (read, DC, Mexico, etc) shield can be used as a wild card, with the state being replaced having to be named explicitly.  You cannot call unresolvable hardship until it actually arrives -  if we get past route 11 and there hasn't been an Alaska posted, we gotta make it all the way to route 50 using other states.

I will start us off with a route 1.

this is the only state-named interstate shield left in Oregon.

states used up in this round: AR CO MI NE OR
states available: eh, the other 45.

this is so the game doesn't actually die.  :sombrero:

colored cutouts and triangle state route shields uniquely identify this state.  It is left as an exercise to the reader to figure out which one  :sombrero:

there is, as far as I know, only one Skyway on US-19.  Certainly only one combination of Skyway and St. Petersburg.

Down goes the Volunteer State! This was taken in 2008 and that "99 TENN" shield may still be up today.

This is cu2010, reminding you, help control the ugly sign population, don't have your shields spayed or neutered.

City names and "Trail of the Lonesome Pine" designation place this one in Virginia. Check the Old Dominion off the list.

dang, couldn't find a cutout 23?  there aren't very many left on top of the green signs - in fact I am hard-pressed to think of a single one.

okay, here's a cutout 24

Also- any benefit to having every other round be numbers 51-100?
