Got some northern US highway ends in northern Michigan last month:

US45's northern end marker, which has only been standing since July 2018!  A trip to this location in July 2015 turned up nothing.

Keeping our Ends up to date, here's a recently relocated one in Tahoe City.  CA 28 was extended westward several hundred yards over the former alignment of CA 89 when the new CA 89 bridge over the Truckee River was completed.  The black-on-white rather than white-on-green makes it a Caltrans oddball, although it looks like Max has a white-on-blue at the end of CA 263 above.

Cool.  The picture I got was actually at the intersection of Lake Gregory Road with North Road (SR 189).  The 2008 Thomas Guide shows that route 189 extended a short distance further south on Lake Gregory Road to where it intersects with SR 18 (Rim of the World Hwy).  The Travel Mapping site also shows that route 189 extends that short segment to intersect with SR 18.  So..maybe the sign I saw is "not posted in the correct location"(?)

Seems not so much as the Postmile has 189 turn and reach 18 via Lake Gregory Drive.  Usually Caltrans posts End Placards about 0.1-0.2 miles from the actual terminus I've noticed.

Is this because Texas rarely posts 'End' signs?  I've driven there several times, but was not on the look-out for these.

They're far from common, considering their vast network of highways. I think I've seen about four or five out of roughly 9000 miles driven.

Most agencies either never post them or almost always post them.
