I saw this in a newspaper, so I don't have a link, but I'm sure there's one out there.  According to the story, this is the longest conveyor in the United States, at 42 miles.  The longest in the world is believed to be in Western Sahara at 61 miles.  It's a $400,000,000 conveyor that carries sand to be used for fracking.  It's near Kermit, Texas, near the east-west section of Texas-New Mexico state line.  There are sand dunes in that area.  Monahans Sandhills State Park features sand dunes.  The capacity is 13 tons, whatever that refers to.  The material moves at 10 mph.  Aerial imagery and Street View show parts of it.  I had no idea this was happening.  I don't live out there, but I'm interested in the area and try to keep up with it.

This is the only aerial imagery on Google that shows it.  It's from May 2024.  Farther east, the imagery is from 2023 and doesn't show it.  That appears to be the western end.  The story doesn't say anything about which way it goes.

New Street View imagery from this month shows the west end from a county road.

Steet View imagery from December shows the conveyor above TX 118.  This is a little further south from the state line, not immediately south of it as the west end is.

Street View imagery from FM 1218.  This is just about due south of the southeast corner of New Mexico.  The road becomes a state line road to the north.

This shows the area of the Kermit sand dunes.  I've never tbeen here and didn't realize Texas had such vast areas of sand.  I chose that location because it must be fun to drive through there at 75 on a windy day.

I'd like to buy a vowel, Alex.  What is E?

All roads lead away from Rome.

That conveyor is massive...impressive that there's another in the world 50% longer than that. I saw it in the imagery recently and thought it was a pipeline.

It's a very sandy soil in the Permian Basin, almost the consistency of flour. Sudden dust storms occur, as I found last week; they reduce visibility to almost nothing.
