Are we supposed to take this literally? Also, some chain restaurants like Arby's sell gyros too.

I've often wondered if the term "hero sandwich" came from a bastardization of the correct pronunciation of gyro.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

Goes back to "more authentic". Serving Gyros in a fast food restaurant primarily serving roast beef sandwiches wouldn't be that. Both in personnel and the "Gyro Meat" used.

I've been to at least ten Greek/Mediterranean restaurants in Denver and have never seen anyone not of that background working there.

Arby's does not sell gyros. Whatever that bastardization of a roast beef sandwich in pita they call a gyros ain't a gyros.

I totally get that, and I know that you were talking about authentic Greek/Mediterranean restaurants, but it wasn't clear if hotdogpi was or not, and that's who Jayhawkco was responding to with a sweeping and (IMO) highly questionable blanket statement.

That may be. I've never had one myself so I can't comment specifically, however if you think they're selling something that's not what they say it is, that's their marketing department's problem, not mine.  :)

Going to the office restroom to take a crap and finding that the water is still soapy from the overnight cleaning such that you know you're the first person to sit on that toilet since it was cleaned.

Going during normal people times never helps if you are trying to replicate photos you see on Instagram.

Professional photographers go early to sites to take advantage of lighting and small crowds, or go late in the day to take advantage of warmer colors and more contrast near sunset or "golden hour". Or they stay stupid late and bring their own lighting, or get a location to themselves for 30 minutes beforehand via permits / pre-opening / owner's paid permission. The rest of us just show up and go clicky-click at our leisure.

Blaming social media is a fast-food panacea answer; most of these places were likely already busy. Logically, suddenly millions more people didn't have increased means to travel and magically have more time off to do so. Sure, there's always a handful of quiet spots that increase but they're still a small percentage. The irony of using one form of social media to denounce another is silly. A great place rarely stays in business for long if it doesn't have a following. A quiet spot is always rediscovered by modern conquistadors, and the hashtag and subsequent trash are the monarchs' flag.

In short, photography and internet have become junk food, and also becoming more processed as the years go on.

I've seen some weird data regarding savings over COVID.  For some "classes," there was a increased level of means and there has been a travel boom post-COVID.

There could be more WFH visitors trying to get out more, but I don't see it jacking up numbers to the extremes illustrated in the video because the the math doesn't work out.

Easy home repairs (that look impressive to your wife despite being relatively straightforward) are, while a pain in the arse, underrated in terms of their domestic effect. In this case it was replacing a fill valve. I'm just glad my wife discovered the leaking toilet on a day when Home Depot was open and I could go get the part immediately.

Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter I believe.

Although if a leak issue is found at 10:01pm, one needs to suffer overnight.

Well, Christmas is the day after tomorrow, after all.

Well, Christmas is the day after tomorrow, after all.

And as it turns out, Home Depot closes early (5:00) on Christmas Eve, or at least the two stores closest to us do. So had the problem cropped up this afternoon, it would have been Thursday before it could have been fixed—which, in turn, would hardly be desirable when the toilet in question is the one on the main floor of the house closest to the dining room and living room and you're having a guest over for Christmas dinner!

The moment the radio station finishes up the last Christmas song of the year and something normal comes on instead. (Although this past weekend, for whatever reason, my radio station was playing normal stuff before reverting back to all-Christmas on Monday, which is something that, if practiced widely, would make the all-Christmas stuff more tolerable.)
