Post your rare business routes, or non-conforming signs. Let me see some of those US routes in Texas with "business"  in the shield and not on a banner. Not every state has business state routes. Share what you got!

Not the greatest picture, but here it is. US 84 Business in Snyder, TX:

The Bus. US-169 there is a very new addition, first marked either late last year or earlier this year. I think it's the only one in Minnesota so far, except for Bus. US-2 (which is a state road, unlike Bus. 169) in East Grand Forks, but that is signed with regular US Route markers and the Business banner. Bus. MN-371 (which is a state highway) with the green markers has been around since the Brainerd bypass of MN-371 opened in 2000, and is the only one in the state. Business MN-23 in Willmar was (with that designation) always a city street, and as US71 said, I'm not so sure it's marked much or at all anymore.

Azle, TX. I-44 gets extended from Wichita Falls to Fort Worth, and I-344 goes from I-44 to I-20 as an outer beltway... no, it's just a shield error.
Clinched, minus I-93 (I'm missing a few miles and my file is incorrect)

Traveled, plus US 13, 44, and 50, and several state routes

I will be in Burlington VT for the eclipse.

QuoteJuly 30, 2018: Ugly detour route markers/signage.

Most of the time, companies contracted out to make temporary route signage do a good job. Sometimes, however, they don't. In Bagley, MN, where a project is currently going on at the US-2/MN-92 junction, the company that put up the detour signage did not. Here's three examples from that one. There was more, but I didn't stop to photograph all of them.

It would almost be a crime to let this thread die.

QuoteAugust 8, 2018: Street names that are also puns.

Let me illustrate with this road work sign on MN-6, approaching Emily. (Short Drive)

(Now one can go with the pun and say the whole sign means "A Short Drive to Cemetery Road" but that's not what this challenge is after.)

Here's another example, with Line Drive, which is a city street that links SW 2nd and 3rd Sts to the municipal ball park, here in Des Moines.

I agree. I had intentions to post several challenges that were (and still are) on my mind within the month of July, but I did not get the chance to do it yet as of now. I will try to get these things up soon, so that we have some more new challenges. I am a huge fan of this thread and have been with it since the get-go, so I, too, would hate to see it die. I do apologize for having some of these new challenges I thought up still not posted yet.

QuoteAugust 16, 2018: Signs for places (cities, towns/townships, counties, or even states) named after geographic features, and the picture includes the thing the place is named after.

Sounds kind of complicated, so I'll give this example: This is the sign on WB US-2 for Cass Lake, MN, a city named after Cass Lake. In the background is–you guessed it–the actual lake, Cass Lake. The place name need not contain the feature type, e.g. a picture of a welcome sign for the state of Ohio would fit the challenge if it had the Ohio River in the background.

One of these days I'll find something that will get more than one or two (if any) responses. :)

IMO a thread begins to die if there have been no responses in about 2 months.  While it is difficult to think of a new challenge every day, we are no where near the death point of this thread.

Carry on!

Here's a little Lincoln Highway monument in Salt Lake City, on 2100 South at (I think) Highland.

According to the Lincoln Highway Association's map, this wasn't the original Lincoln Highway, but rather a later generation or auxiliary route. At various times, 2100 South served as US 40, Alternate US 40, and SR 201, before being removed from the state route system in the late 60s/early 70s.
