Driving on I-10 WB near Chandler this afternoon, I saw a new sign just before the Loop 202 interchange that says "To Globe. Use Loop 202 East". So I wonder if ADOT may add similar signs in other areas.

Max Rockatansky

I don't recall there being any.  Westbound I-10 traffic heading to Globe isn't much of a thing beyond AZ 77 near Tucson.

I drove through the Broadway Curve today, traffic flow has definitely improved. Also, I noticed some black shrouds on a handful of signs on the Superstition Freeway heading east. What's that all about?

What I'm referring to is ADOT suggesting to the public to use the loop freeways to bypass the central core. Similar to the signs on EB I-10 approaching Loop 303 and SB I-17 approaching Loop 303 so travelers can use Loop 303 as a "Phoenix Bypass Route". So maybe on WB US 60, adding a sign to use Loop 202 SB to I-10 towards Tucson.

Are you talking about those screens on some of the signs to help prevent or deter tagging (graffiti)?

I guess that's what it is

Any pics of such signs?

Sounds like supplemental ground level signs.  Anything is useful to direct long distance traffic away from Central Phoenix, but IMO putting such inforamtion as either a primary or secondary control city would be even better.

To piggyback off the lack of any movement across the north Phoenix area east of I-17, the big thing in the way is the Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve. They barely got Sonoran Desert Drive allowed through there, let alone even thinking of extending the 303. Now I will contend that one major failure was not planning on the 51 continuing further north from where it ends at the 101. Even with the recent big widening project, that segment of the 101 between 17 and the 51 is a packed parking lot in the morning and evening rush hour. There's a LOT of movement that comes down I-17, takes the 101 east, then splits off either south on the 51 or continues over to Scottsdale. Ideally, having a separate route that kicked out up closer to Anthem and tied in at the 51 would have been a nice "connection" to have.

Trying to avoid going too far into "Fantasy Freeway" territory, but the lack of ANY other high-flow option from Anthem to different parts of the valley was a big miss in the mid 90's when Anthem first got built. And it's especially coming to light as they do the current pavement project north of the 101 up to Carefree Highway where there is NO good bypass in the area. 17 is the only N/S major route. Gotta go all the way to Lake Pleasant Parkway (99th ave) to the west and Cave Creek Rd to the east. And neither of them are even remotely capable of carrying the entire Interstate's load during extended construction closures.

Don't Cave Creek residents need to travel outside their isolated hamlet for their jobs as doctors, lawyers, bankers, and car dealers?

Sure, just not everyday.  A lot of retirees live up that way, so commuting outward isn't a big factor.

The new arrangement on I-10 really screwed me over today. I missed the entrance for the C/D roads and I had to go all the way to University Drive and then circle back to Broadway Road.

Read the signs. :D

Good news! After this coming weekend, there will be a second CD road entrance right at the Superstition interchange.

I f*cking hate Grand Avenue. My sister and I were leaving the State Fair and we were stuck at a crosswalk for several minutes as the signals worked their way through their 6 phases. We eventually got so impatient that we just jaywalked.

Max Rockatansky

Why were you trying to cross Grand?  Most of the State Fair parking is east of the Grand/19th Avenue intersection.

So ADOT plans some improvements at the I-10/Loop 101 interchange. Link below is to proposed improvements:

We weren't trying to cross Grand, we were trying to cross 19th at its intersection with Grand

Got my ballot in the mail today. I voted extra Yes on Prop 479.

Right, which still doesn't make a lot of sense from how you describe it.  Lots A and B are located northeast of the Grand, McDowell and 19th Ave intersection.  Were you out in Parking Lot C or parking in the neighborhood west of 19th?

We parked at a used car dealership right across the street from the fairgrounds that had rented out for fair parking.

Correct answer: "To get to the other side."

Even though the races for President and Senate here have received much money and attention, the results on Prop 479 will have far more impact on the daily lives of Maricopa County residents.

Good news: Prop 479 has passed with a wide margin! 60.18% yes to 39.82% no
