  Signage not all clearview.  The contrast is striking.   The depiction of both, and duplication of, US 220  "regular" and "alternate" on the same smallish BGS is somewhat confusing.  Perhaps the "alternate" needs to be within the US 220 shield itself.

The "Next Exit 13 Miles" is no longer true with the new local interchange at Exit 163.
Also surprised to see Alternate fully spelled out.

Yeah, that error was there when I first toured the new Exit 163 interchange in 2022.  I guess it will be fixed by the end of this project.

PennDOT - District 2 News: PennDOT Closing Portion of Jacksonville Road on September 25

QuoteClearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that the contractor for its High-Speed Interchange project between interstates 80 and 99 will close a portion of Township Road 758 (Jacksonville Road) between Lyonstown Road and the I-99 interchange starting Wednesday, September 25, and implement a long-term detour. The closure and detour will allow the contractor to conduct large earth moving operations for the project, which will enhance traffic safety by providing a direct connection between the two highways, relieving traffic congestion, and realigning service for local traffic.

While this closure is in place, traffic will follow Jacksonville Road to the intersection of North Wilson Street, North Wilson Street to Route 550 (East Bishop Street) and East Bishop Street to access Interstate 99. PennDOT anticipates this closure being in place until the project is completed in the 2030 construction season.

PennDOT also noted that motorists who have been parking near the interchange at I-99 will no longer be permitted to do so.

Overall work on this project includes building the interchange, ten bridges, four retaining walls, five box culverts, seven sign structures, and three changeable message boards. It also includes constructing new and rebuilding existing roadways and ramps, drainage improvements, installing Intelligent Transportation Devices, guide rail and highway lighting, pavement marking, stream improvements, and miscellaneous construction. Work will continue through the next six construction seasons, ending in 2030.

Trumbull Corporation of Pittsburgh, PA, is the contractor on this $259 million project. Approximately $170 million of the funding comes from the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).

So,does I-99 get signed north of the interchange once it is completed? Or does it never get complete?

Given the lack of plans to build the other I-80/I-99 interchange and the missing pieces between I-80 and I-180, I'm guessing the signage will stop at the interchange.

I'd be in favor of expediting the reconstruction of I-80 Exit 178 and twinning US 220 to Salona and then signing I-99 on the entire route except between Jersey Shore and I-180. That would increase the chances of something ever being done about that stretch, while providing a continuous interstate corridor through Williamsport in the interim.

The Interstate 80-to-Williamsport segment may not be built for decades. I would love for the US 15 corridor to be signposted as Interstate 99. I have no idea how I-99 would even be built along the US 220 corridor north of I-80.  It's a decent commercial/residential strip.

I mean, the Hale Eddy to Hancock stretch of I-86 has its challenges, but they're compounded along US 220.

The Interstate 80-to-PA 477 could be upgraded on-alignment: widened to four lanes, and converting the Interstate 80 interchange from a diamond interchange to a free-flow system interchange. As for the PA 44 South-to-W. 4th St. segment, the only way I could see that segment being completed is to build a northern bypass of the existing US 220 alignment. I don't see upgrading the existing US 220 alignment to freeway standards as a rational option.

Isn't most US 220 a freeway north of I-80 already?
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.
