I have had an offer for the purchase of my domain name and am debating the idea with myself. Although I could easily just change from .com to .net or .info if I did sell, I am not sure whether it's worthwhile in the end. Have any of you other website owners out there dealt with this? How did you handle it?

I ignored it...because the ones I've receved were spam.

Yes, I was certainly aware it could be, so I made sure to confirm that it's a real person on behalf of a real company.

Well, moving all your stuff to a new domain could cause confusion with your users. The new site using that domain could cause confusion too, and could hurt your reputation if it's like porn or something. You have to weigh the price they're quoting you against that and see if it's worth it to you.

I found out the Pennsylvania Highway Information Association wanted my domain, but not enough to inquire as to a potential sale.  They took the .org version and used it awhile, but it now just redirects to their current site.
