Found this in the TxDOT Highway Designation Files:

In 2014, The portion of FM 543 from US 75 to CR 206 was removed from the state highway system, and the portion from CR 206 to FM 455 is now SPUR 195.

This change has not been made in OSM.

Has anybody driven this route and observed if the signs have been changed?

I accept and respect your identity as long as it's not dumb shit like "identifying as a vaccinated attack helicopter".

The FM 543 and Spur 195 designations have flipped. I discovered this the other day when I drove part of the route. The flip is not mentioned in the TxDOT Highway Designation files, but I did find this Collin Co minute order approving the flip.

The northern portion is now FM 543, and the portion from SH 5 to appx 1/4 mile W of US 75 is now SPUR 195.

The interchange with US 75 has just been rebuilt as a part of the improvements to US 75.

I did forget to check the BGS signs on US 75 because I was on the frontage road.

TxDOT is really getting sloppy when it comes to updating Highway Designation Files.

Leaving SH 5:

After the section that the city took over, heading north:

The action was fairly recent.  It's always taken a while for the designation files to get updated.  The minute order was passed in September.  My browser history shows that I downloaded it during my regular monthly checks.  I look at most of the highway designation orders, but I didn't think of this topic needing to be updated.  Here's the minute order: http://ftp.dot.state.tx.us/pub/txdot/commission/2016/0929/12e1.pdf

There's more fun to be had.  One of the fairly new features on the Statewide Planning Map is the Highway Designations selection.  It shows recent additions, removals, and changes, going back to the 90s.  It also does not yet show the update on FM 543.  It's interesting to look at those.  The Roadway Inventory feature is neat, too.  It shows all the details on each little stretch of road.

For a while they had an off-system inventory, too.  It showed details for all public roads, but they took it away.
I'd like to buy a vowel, Alex.  What is E?

Thanks.

The interesting thing is that both the state and county orders fail to mention that SPUR 195 was extended west of US 75. The Collin County thoroughfare plan shows it tying into FM 1461, but doesn't specify whether the entire length of the road road will be a state highway

It's been a few months since I've been through there, but the section of FM 543 between Laud Howell and the new T intersection at the south end of Trinity Falls appears to be off the state system as well. FM 543 resumes at the intersection and continues on to Weston.

Another thing I noticed in that area is FM 545 in Melissa has been truncated between SH 5 and SH 121. All 545 signage off SH 5 has been removed. The directional sign pointing the way to Blue Ridge is still there, however.

Last time I was there, there was a SPUR 195 reassurance sign west of the intersection. It is now an FM 543 sign:

Also, the BGS's on US 75 only mention FM 543.
