SP is full of nothing but Debbie Downer takes on all forms of Motorsport.

The F1 movie was a decent watch, my wife and I watched it this morning at a matinee.  Kind of gave me Days of Thunder vibes but was slightly more grounded and actually aware of the history of the F1 circuit.

We saw the movie last weekend and enjoyed it. The story was a little bit absurd, but sometimes a bit of absurdity is necessary. My wife found it interesting to see things like the team strategy meetings and such. She's never watched F1 in any detail but does occasionally glance at it when I'm watching, and she had no idea there was that much more to it than going out there and running x number of laps before anyone else does. She did watch a good portion of the British GP today when I had it on and she recognized the circuit from the movie.

I think one of the things she didn't realize was that it really is more of a team sport compared to the American racing series because, unlike the Indy 500 or NASCAR, each driver doesn't have his own separate pit box. That surprised her.

I was surprised that strategy was such a large part of the movie.  I really thought that would have been deemphasized for the American audience.

Oddly I'm finding that my wife really likes racing movies.  We saw Ford vs. Ferrari a couple years back and she got into Gran Turismo when I had it on TV the other day.

We also saw the F1 movie and I thought it was decent. Def a bit campy in some spots but I really liked the camera work on the cars. Plus it was impressive how they added the cars to actual races that happened (Mexico GP comes to mind when Perez went airborne on lap 1/turn 1.

Also, NICO HULKENBERG!!!
The local weatherman, trust me I can be 99.9% right!

We saw it in the theater the previous weekend; it was better than I thought it would be. I'd always wanted to see a F1-themed movie so I gave it lots of latitude. Some of the cameos and nods to history were enjoyable.

Me too, it was a realistic touch but I think it was also competing with Drive to Survive and couldn't really ignore it. With that, nods to sponsors' requirements, testing, and training.

Sure, if you want to pick it apart, there's a lot of holes, leaps of faith, and it's not perfectly accurate. So what?...it's a movie. I won't spoil it for those that want to see it.

Also, I think Javier Bardem did a pretty good job of being an ex-racer team boss.

I just got a BBC push alert saying Christian Horner has been removed as Red Bull team principal.

Yeah, a lot of outlets are reporting it. Seems rather sudden, honestly. Car is not great this year but still won two races.

Rumor going around that Max is going to Mercedes, and with Honda getting out of the sport, Adrian Newey already departed, I suppose Red Bull is cleaning house.

Not a big fan of Horner but it seems ignominious for someone who's delivered eight titles in the last 15 years.

I saw a rumor suggesting Horner could land at Ferrari in place of Vasseur. Seems like a stretch (and I have no idea whether Horner speaks Italian), but it would certainly be interesting.
