Yeah, no shit, rights to stream are so screwed that it's usually the better option.

Also, I'm not clicking on any Condé Nast-owned websites.

This was nowhere near as bad as I thought it was by the title. I was imagining watching a stream in-game to get a tactical advantage, which this wasn't.

I'm a 49ers fan now living in Dallas, but I'm not that faithful to purchase the Sunday Ticket. In looking at the 2023 coverage, here's when I could have watched locally:

Week 1 - Part of Fox Early
Week 2 - Nope
Week 3 - Thursday Night Football (Yes, I have Amazon Prime)
Week 4 - Part of Fox Late
Week 5 - Sunday Night Football (and smoked the Cowboys)
Week 6 - Nope
Week 7 - Monday Night Football
Week 8 - Nope
Week 9 - BYE
Week 10 - Fox Early
Week 11 - Nope
Week 12 - Thanksgiving Night
Week 13 - Fox Late
Week 14 - Fox Late Single
Week 15 - Nope
Week 16 - Monday Night Football
Week 17 - Nope
Week 18 - Nope, Cowboys game has priority for Fox Late

So, out of 17 games, only 7 were not broadcast locally, or 41%... and only once was due to to home team priority.

Besides, I can watch the highlights on YouTube.

It should be pointed out here that Thursday Night Football is streamed free, and legally, on Twitch.  You don't need Amazon Prime to watch those games live.  Here's the link (caution, there's an auto-start video embedded):

https://www.twitch.tv/primevideo

Try it tonight (Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Rams).

Twitch is a separate streaming service owned by Amazon, mostly oriented toward video games.  Thursday Night Football on there is something of an unadvertised special.  If you're dubious about the legality, here's the Wikipedia discussion of Twitch:

MLS has every game available through the Apple-run MLS Season Pass service globally. No blackouts, no fuss...I just wish it was better to use on non-Apple platforms (it still lacks a native Android app), but overall I'm glad I don't have to hop between FS1/ESPN2/Amazon Prime/local Fox to find my Sounders games.

Apple wanted to do the same thing with NFL Sunday Ticket. That was a deal-breaker for the NFL as they place a high value on the television contracts.
