Freeman taking over Reggie Jackson's title of Mr.October? (Reggie did it for the Yankees over the Dodgers in 1977.)

Sounds like the Yankees took offense to being down 3-0
From the land of red, white, yellow and black.

The fans who interfered with Mookie Betts in the right field stands have been barred from attending Game 5:

The Dodgers can party like it's 1981.

And it's seems like a while since the World Series finished in October before Halloween day.

I meant they last beat the Yankees in the 1981 World Series.

And it's interesting to note then it happened 10 years after another team in another sport from LA beat a team from NYC. In 2014 the Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup against the NY Rangers.
Edit: Let's see in 2034 if they'll be a rematch between LA and NYC in any sport. ;-)

Rest assured, pitchers and catchers report in just under four months.

And before that, they also did it in 1955 (their only Brooklyn title) and 1963.

I'm so happy for the Dodgers, and especially Shohei Ohtani, who won his first championship ring just one year after signing a free-agent contract.

Another interesting factoid is tied to Kobe Bryant, an erstwhile fixture at Chavez Ravine: The number of championships and the last two numbers of the year they reached that achievement match the two jersey numbers he wore with the Lakers: 8 titles in 2024

Clippers/Knicks, anyone?

Now that Ohtani has a World Series ring, what might the offseason move of his former sidekick Mike Trout be?

The Angels should embark on a full rebuild, but their ownership does not know baseball at all and will continue to sign over-the-hill veterans to 1-year contracts. Given that info, they will keep Trout and build a poor surrounding cast around him.

The Rays will play their 2025 home games at Steinbrenner Field, the Yankees spring training facility.

So two teams (Rays and A's) will be playing at minor league stadiums next season. It gave me the thought of having each MLB team do a series each year at their AAA affiliate's stadium (or the AA team for those whose AAA team are in the same city/market).

I know that many of the minor league stadiums are lacking in facilities, but I imagine they can't be worse than the spring training stadiums (where the Rays will be playing is both a spring training and minor league facility). And it might give some data to MLB as they consider expansion (thinking particularly of Charlotte, Salt Lake City, Nashville, and Portland).

Imagine Giants/Dodgers in Sacramento, or Yankees/Red Sox in Scranton, or Twins/Cubs in Des Moines, etc.

Ted$8roadFan

That's actually be good for bothe MLB and MiLB. Fans seeing two major league teams playing would also get to see that they have minor league baseball that is much more accessible than major league baseball is.

mgk920

Or the Brewers playing at their single-A Team stadium here in Appleton, WI.

I'm sorry but this a pretty bad idea for a number of reasons.

Rickey Henderson dies, a few days before what would have been his 66th birthday.

https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2024/12/21/rickey-henderson-oakland-as-died-yankees-hall-of-fame-mvp-man-of-steal/

The two living (going into 2024) players with the highest career WAR who were not tainted by PEDs both died this year:
Willie Mays (156.2 WAR) (HOF)
Rickey Henderson (111.1) (HOF)

Three living players associated with PEDs have higher WAR than Rickey; none of them is in the Hall of Fame:
Barry Bonds (162.8)
Roger Clemens (139.2)
Alex Rodriguez (117.6)

Updated list of living players with the highest career WAR, excluding those three:
Mike Schmidt (106.9) (HOF)
Greg Maddux (106.6) (HOF)
Albert Pujols (101.4) (eligible for HOF in 2028)
Randy Johnson (101.1) (HOF)

In a few short weeks, spring training will begin, and we'll have to contend with what exactly to call the A's. They're no longer Oakland, but not yet Las Vegas either, so maybe Sacramento?

In the standings they will be "Athletics".  They will wear a sleeve patch featuring the Tower Bridge, which is a few hundred yards from the ballpark, but there won't be any other reference to Sacramento.  The standings will read:

Texas
Houston
LA Angels
Seattle
Athletics
