The most recent edition of their county map atlas is available for free download off of VDOT's website...

Of course, the latest edition is the 2004 edition, which makes sense given that their latest route log publication is from 2003...

I clicked on Prince William County and my grandparents' old neighborhood in the Montclair area (which is nominally in Dumfries) is *almost* on there.

Wow, these maps are pretty much only useful as time capsules. The map for Montgomery County STILL doesn't have the middle portion of the US 460 bypass or its connection to I-81 (built in 2001 and 2003, respectively).

My regret is that I finally broke down and bought the hard copy version last year, so there's $35 i could've saved...

I have been told that VDOT's website might include historical state official maps someday.  Hoping that happens and that they eventually put up some historical county atlases to go with it...

That map also still shows the split of U.S. 11/460 east of Elliston (the original road). It has been many years since the eastbound lanes were combined with the westbound lanes, leaving the old road as a stub up to the old bridge over the N&W/Norfolk Southern tracks. Interesting that is still shows four pretty much ancient "magisterial districts" for the county. Due to population increases, the county was divided into seven districts that in no way match up with what VDOT shows. My tax dollars not at work very well.
