The long-awaited Searcy Bypass has opened to traffic.

It's been open to traffic since early April but not officially until now (the ribbon cutting ceremony, etc.). Anyways, for those curious, the bypass allows traffic west / northwest of town to bypass Searcy via 13 if they wish to head east to Memphis, for example. I am seeing more and more trucks making a left from AR 16 to 13 and on to points east. I bet they love the new bypass because that meas no traffic lights for them.
I use the bypass almost daily for my commute to work since I only have to contend with 2 sets of traffic lights instead of 13-14.

I didn't realize that Harding University now has over 5,000 students.  I know some folks who attended there back in the 1960s and 1970s.
