Yes, this means what you think it means. First, I've had to take a vacation day to get closer to finished on these damn updates. But I am closer; I may just wait until after the June CTC meeting to do a final pass and update things over the July 4th holiday. This post includes link to information on the STIP, SHOPP, and SB1 lists I've been working through, and they are well worth perusing. Read, set, discuss.

Note: When I post the Highway Page updates, I'll be urging you to follow the link to the post, and the links inside. There is loads of stuff when this goes up, and cutting and pasting large stuff with links is a pain here. More in that introduction.

US 66 definitely needs to be elevated to a National Historic Trail.  Personally I really hope he legislation passes, it would be a huge win for the roadgeek community and from historic prospective.  I'm finding some of the debates regarding historic alignments somewhat intriguing though especially with the early NOTR alignments our west.  Begs the question as how do you sign such historic Trail on and what alignments?

The Merced River Canyon closure on 49 has been a huge hinderance for me updating my photo albums and road blogs.  The segment north of Coulterville to 120 gives me enough wiggle room with J16 and CA 132 to make a trip up there worthwhile now.  I'm hoping to have photo updates by next week for 49 between 41 and 16.

Does anyone have any interest in putting together a small road meet for 1 once the Mud Creek Slide reopens?  I'm planning on being there myself at the week of opening to cap off a finale the "Slide Spectacular"  Series on Highway 1.

It would be great to meet you and other fellow roadgeeks that frequent here online, but getting to anywhere south of Gorda is 4 to 5 hours from where I am at. I imagine that's true for everyone but I have to account for weekend traffic too. US 101 and CA 1 tend to get clogged up at certain times between Gilroy and Monterey. Definitely looking forward to the pictures you have to share!

Yeah, I figured given the remote location that it would be tricky.  I'm planning heading southbound towards Cambria given that direction of travel tends to have way less traffic on the cliff-face.  Seems like the majority of the regulars on here are either in the Bay Area or out of Metro Los Angeles which are a good hike away.  On a bad day it only takes 2.5 hours to get either to Cambria or Carmel from Fresno for me.
