It took 101 years for the other Washington to finally win Lord Stanley's Cup.
Oh yes, the 1917 Seattle Metropolitans.

Congrats to the Capitals for winning their first-ever Stanley Cup, and I know the Golden Knights will do very well for years to come.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

Yes, congrats to the Capitals on winning The Cup.  Hopefully next year it'll be the Wings turn again.

Congrats to the Capitals for their first ever Stanley Cup! The only sport of the big four I don't really follow is hockey, and as such I wasn't aware this years' Stanley Cup finals was to crown a first-time champion. I only knew about Golden Knights, which could have won it on their very first year of existence but came three wins short.

Very cool: The Caps are inviting all season-ticket holders to have our pictures taken with the Stanley Cup by a professional photographer. Ms1995hoo and I get ours tomorrow morning. Nice gesture by the organization. I have my picture with the Cup from an event in April 2010, but this time means a lot more!

The Toronto Marlies, who are the Maple Leafs farm team in the AHL, had won their first Calder Cup championship.

I second that!

And on a different note, I hope Seattle gets the 32nd team so I won't have to visit Vancouver when the Blackhawks come to the Pacific Northwest (not that I've ever actually done that anyway).

What's the story with the alternate sweaters?  When did they debut?

The Caps debuted the jerseys for the 2018 Stadium Series game held at Navy Stadium in Annapolis. The Caps won the game 5-2 over the Toronto Maple Leafs. I personally think they look great and hope that the Caps continue to wear them occasionally next season.
On a different note, its unfortunate we weren't able to keep Trotz  :-(

I thought the owner of the copyright for Downfall was cracking down on them, but I guess not.  Wasn't there a Downfall parody video about Hitler not being able to make any more Downfall parody videos?

Regardless of the video, I crack up every time Hitler gets the bad news and shakily reaches for his glasses.

Ovechkin has the Cup in Moscow this weekend. I wonder how much all that caviar cost.

I'm sure there's a reason why Mrs. Hoo wears the C.

Yeah: She bought an Ovechkin sweater and I bought an Oshie sweater (partly because I already had two red Ovechkin sweaters) and Ovechkin is the captain.  :-D

Double-posting because this is unrelated to my photo above: Former goalie Ray Emery drowned near Hamilton this morning. He was only 35. I hated that guy as a player, but I hate to see anyone meet a sad end like that. Apparently he was swimming with friends and vanished.
