Question:
Which is worse: I-84 east at 5:00 PM on a Friday night or I-84 west on Saturday on 6:00 PM When it closes
Option 1: I-84 East
votes: 4
Option 2: I-84 West
votes: 1
Which is worse?
Okay two things here.
Which I-84?
What part of it?
Danbury
Why is it closing? Road work or bridge work?
I-84 is fairly busy anyway, however, it ramps up around holidays (I've been on I-84 west between Hartford and Danbury the day before Thanksgiving and it took nearly two hours to go the 60 miles). I'm sure that whatever is going on, it will be a major headache.
To most people "I-84 east" and "I-84 west" mean Connecticut vs Idaho (and neighboring states), not which way you are traveling. Other numbers like this are 76, 86, and 88.
According to Google Maps, there is no traffic on Saturday at 6 PM. (Still looking in Danbury.)
Where's the option for 'this thread'?

I went through this in both directions on Tuesday, heading to/from Allentown, PA. Traffic was flowing fine at both times (after 2 pm and then close to 1 am this morning). I even noticed the new "I <3 NY" on the grass slope between the roadway facing westbound motorists. It looked like this one southeast of Albany, along I-90, back on Monday, February 18th:

As for the bridges, they're talking about the last bridge heading east in Southeast, NY, between MM 70 and MM 71. It's east of Exit 21 and west of CT Exit 1 on the NY/CT state line.
The message signs were mentioning it as far out as at least Southington, soon after Exit 32 (CT 10 - Queen Street).
