Wow.  Of all the roads to be next after the Syracuse changes, the Cross County Parkway certainly isn't what I was expecting.  Nor did I think exit 0 would come to New York.

02 Park Ave

I-87 should be their priority.

Heh.  The Thruway won't budge until a governor forces them to and I doubt NYSDOT will change the Northway's exit numbers without the Thruway changing theirs as well on I-87.

It will be a great day when the Thruway switches over, though.

Then again, one region decided to change [most of] their part of an otherwise all NYSDOT-maintained Interstate, so would the lack of cooperation from another agency really be a blocker?  :-D

Referring to Region 3 updating I-81 in their territory, without any coordination (or at least, execution) from Region 9 or 7. (Or, for that matter, the junction with current I-481).

Although I can see where this warped perception came from, the renumbering was not a solely Region 3 exercise, but associated with the I-81 Viaduct Project and actually coordinated across Regions with an entire exit list for I-81.

That said, I'm not sure of the exact reasons why Regions 7 and 9 have not progressed their sections as of yet.

Fair enough, as I said, perhaps execution is a better term than coordination. It was meant mainly as a joke. But as an outsider, that in no way has the access you (or others here) have, not sure it is such a warped view. (and I get how that can be annoying.) Especially when the "exit" to I-481 reverts to the sequential; "for now" as "part of the project." (I understand it won't be an exit after the conversion)

If I had to guess, I would say that I-87 would switch if a direct connection between the Thruway and Northway were ever built.

I wouldn't be surprised if Regions 7 and 9 had assumed that the renumbering would happen this year when the designation moves and got surprised when the exits were done last year.  Personally, I hope that Region 7 gets to their piece by August.

Could also have been a glitch in funding/contract progression...

The one thing that makes it not so surprising is that the signs on there are ancient.  A lot of it is still button copy.  Since they seem to be converting highways when they replace the signs for unrelated reasons, it makes sense.  That said, fully agreed that the CCP needs a milepost system far less than a lot of other highways in the state.

Wikipedia's Cross County Parkway page has already been updated to list the new exit numbers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_County_Parkway#Exit_list.
