Bruno Ganz , probably best known for portraying Adolph Hitler in the oft-parodied movie Downfall has passed at age 77.

"Downfall" parodies in the hundreds, thousands?  Who predicted that when the net first became available to the public?  LOL!  "Fegelein!".

I'm surprised the universe didn't collapse on itself when someone made a "Hitler learns people are making Downfall parody videos"  parody video.

There's some parody videos where he learned of Bruno Ganz's death.

Mr Ganz was reportedly flattered by the attention

Its actually a pretty good movie, I watched it after the memes starting coming out years ago.

"Downfall" was also the name for the operation involving the invasion of Japan in November 1945 and spring 1946.  If you are into alternate history, imagine the world as if this operation had taken place.

A common alternate history topic is one positing an Axis victory during WWII.  "The Man In The High Castle" explores this theme.  It is not only alternate history, it is science fiction as done by Philip K. Dick, who certainly had a way of making plots interesting.  Here is a small part called the Volkshalle Scene. The year is 1961 and the Volkshalle, a structure so large that it was capable of seating 150,000 people, was built in the renamed and rebuilt capital called Germania.  Hitler has been killed by someone in the NSDAP who was out to grab power.  Himmler addresses the massive gathering and does so in dramatic fashion.

In Season 4 you can see the IJN Yamato and escorts enter San Francisco Bay by going underneath the Golden Gate Bridge.  There are plenty of visual treats to see in this series.

Today's CGI is good enough to make what never was appear as if it really was.  These are entertainment shows.  What happens when this tech gets used for propagating lies?

Seems pretty accurate to the real city....

Turns out Hitler was a huge Cheetos fan...

The parodies got really specific after a while, someone once made one about a relatively obscure bar in DC going out of business.

The one where Hitler finds out his birthday party is being canceled just made me sad.
