O Tamandua

Must have been posting the story on the other thread as you were doing so here. Apologies, but this particular news deserves two threads.

I'm glad to see this. Maybe this "arm twisting" will get Missouri going on their little section. :)

MoDOT already has plans. That is likely the only reason ARDOT is moving forward, so they can complete everything close to the same time.

This "groundbreaking" was more about local politicians congratulating themselves. Construction on the "Bella Vista Connector" (as it's now called) actually began a few months ago and is well underway.
A pile of dirt had been poured on the ground so local politicians, ARDOT associates, and representatives from various advisory/lobbying groups could take turns shoveling and tossing the dirt pile.

There seems to be conflicting info in the media regarding when this project will be done. Some say it will be finished by next year, others say 2022. Based upon what I saw, the 4-Laning between Bentonville and CR 34 (Rocky Dell Hollow Rd)  will likely be finished next year. From CR 34 to the Missouri line will likely be 2022.  The Roundabout at 49 /71B /71 will be replaced with a SPUI sometime in the next two years.

MODOT reportedly will have their section of I-49 completed in 2022, as well.

I can't figure out how ArDOT is going to stage the construction for the SPUI.  Will enjoy seeing progress photos if anyone in the area will be tracking it.

The Ghostbuster

When this segment of Interstate 49 is completed, will Arkansas finally renumber the exits along existing 49? Continuing to use old 540's numbers is sure to bring confusion, they should go!

To my knowledge, yes.

Of course, 549 already uses the I-49 exit scheme :)

Is that 193 miles from the AR/TX state line or the AR/LA state line?

Interesting question. I'll have to research that.

I found this post from 2014 that has the proposed exit lists.

It looks like it is 193 from the Louisiana state line.

That photo is along the portion of AR 549 (future Interstate 49) between US 71 and AR 22 that was completed in 2015. I, of course, was referring to the portion of 49 that was part of Interstate 540 from 1999 to 2014 (existing exits 20 to 93).

Yes it is. I believe your original comment was if/when ARDOT would renumber the exits on I-49 north of I-40?  I suspect it will be when 49 is complete to Missouri. Though I have no fresh photos, 549 north of Bentonville already uses I-49's exit numbers as does the section at Barling.
