Notification when a post is deleted

Just out of courtesy to the users involved, I generally try to leave a notification of some kind whenever I edit out a section of someone's posts, or when I snip off an entire branch worth of posts that are dragging a thread in an unwelcome direction. The most awkward ones to deal with are when it's just a single post that has a high risk of derailing a thread, since leaving a public notification calls attention to the fact that a post was deleted, as well as its disruptive nature. That can be handled with a PM, but sometimes it feels kind of pointless since the reason for the deletion should be obvious to any reasonable person.
