Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT (BDL) reached 100 F/38 C around 2 PM EDT on Sunday, July 21st. It was their first 100 degree reading in 7 years. The other airport stations in Connecticut (i.e Brainard Airport [HFD] in Hartford, Meriden-Markham, Waterbury-Oxford, etc.) were no higher than 98 F/37 C.

Hartford was "only" 98 F/37 C the day before. However, the dew point was even higher at the time. Parts of inland Connecticut had the so-called heat index pushing 110 F/43 C.

The all-time Connecticut heat record is 106 F/41 C. That was set in Danbury in July of 1995, topping the previous Waterbury record by 1 degree F.

It's very hot today in Salt Lake, where a rare Heat Advisory is in effect. After reaching a high of 103 today, we're expecting a low in the mid 70s tonight and then a high of 101 tomorrow.

The good news is that relief is coming after tomorrow, in the form of a monsoon moisture surge from the south. The bad news is that initially, these storms will be dry, so the wind and lightning will result in a serious fire weather risk. As the week goes on and more moisture enters the area, the storms will transition to more of a flash flood threat.

It was 76 degrees today and partly cloudy.  I took advantage of a cool day to mow my grass.

Europe is having a record heat wave these days. Yesterday Lingen, Germany reached 109. My hometown was cooler, reaching "only" 97. Today it has rained, and the max has been 85. At least it has not been as bad as last time, we reached 101 on Tuesday.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

Some of the threads that link to monthly blogs or photo albums have quite a lot of posts by the same user in a row.

For example, this one. Note all the merges.

Felt a little rain as I went outside to get the mail. High of 93 today. Low of 74 tonight.

Middle of a thunderstorm. Interestingly, it took about 40 minutes from seeing the first lightning to when it started raining.
