(Supposedly that term for people from my state is preferred to Nutmegger.)
For several years I've been researching the origin of the names of more than 700 streets in my hometown of Hamden (home of Quinnipiac University, known for its polling institute and 2023 NCAA Division I men's hockey champions). In the course of doing that I've come across trivia on topics like those on the General Highway Talk board. I'll be posting them there as time permits.

Welcome from a little farther north on CT 10.  What's the deal with Hamden not putting the suffices on most of their street blades?

Not sure about that. It's standard practice in some cities, notably San Francisco, to omit the suffix when it is Street. But Hamden does it for any suffix. At least Hamden almost always signs both streets at an intersection, except for dead-ends and when another sign for the principal street is in sight. Many New England towns adopt the bad practice of nearly always signing only one street, even when the unsigned street is only slightly longer/more important than the signed one. That sometimes caused me trouble when navigating back roads in pre-GPS times.
