Former US 50 and the South Lincoln Highway from Folsom-Placerville

The corridor of travel from Folsom east to Placerville is one of the most important and most historic overland routes in California.  The Folsom-Placerville corridor includes historic routes such as; the Lake Tahoe Wagon Road, the Pony Express, the Lake Tahoe State Highway/First State Highway, South Lincoln Highway and US Route 50.  Much of the earliest elements of US Route 50 were directly taken from the corridor established by the Lake Tahoe State Highway and South Lincoln Highway.  It took me a solid 10-12 hours to track down all the information contained within this blog given there is substantial documentation on Folsom-Placerville corridor dating back to the 1850s.  If you like historic highway corridors and old alignments the Folsom-Placerville corridor is great place to look:
