Confirmation for reporting to mod

I suggest a confirmation to reporting messages to mods.  Not sure if this has been suggested before, although if it has, well, I am suggesting it again.

I accidentally reported a message to a mod because I was on the forum on my iPhone SE and I have very large hands / fingers and inadvertently pressed "report to mod"  on the touch screen" .  I would like this action reversed.  The post was NOT offensive to me.  I just touched the wrong option, and there is no confirmation whether I actually desired to go through with it or not.

Thanks!

Don't you have to type your email to report posts? That pretty much acts like an "confirmation" .

Maybe it didn't go through then.  I did not realize this.  Thanks!

For me, it doesn't require an email, but you do need to give a reason, and you can go back a page instead of filling it out.

Oh, none of that came up.  So I guess it must have not gone through.  Thank God!

I was just thinking "Oh shit, I just inadvertently reported someone for no reason!"

Yeah, I accidentally hit the Report to Moderator button about three times a week, though I can only think of once or twice where I'd actually needed to report anything.

I figured I would have been called out by now, if that really counted.

The mods probably review the post and see that it's just some mundane shit and move on.

The only thing reporting a post does is send all of the admins and mods a message that you reported a post, so if you ever do report a post accidentally somehow, a quick PM to one of us explaining the situation will be enough to clear it up.

Is there any punishment for excessive reporting?

Yes. Excessive anything can be punished.

In some cases, we have had to disable the report feature for individual users when they used it inappropriately (repeatedly reporting things that weren't against the rules but they thought should be/to prove a point, trying to carry on a conversation with the mods through the reporting system instead of PMs, etc.).
