Title: TX: City of Denton wants to take over rest of FM 426
Post by: Brian556 on September 22, 2015, 07:32:23 PM
The City of Denton wants to take over the rest of FM 426 so that they can get it widened, and get sidewalks built. They feel that the state has been too slow on the issue. It has needed this work since 1996 when Ryan High School was built.

The weird thing about this road is that the section from US 77/377 to Woodrow Ln was reconstructed/widened by the city in the early 70's, and is currently maintained by they city, but technically remains on the state highways system.

A portion of FM 428 in Denton is the same way.

I'm wondering if they'll just decommission all of FM 426 if the city gets the remaining portion. That would be logical.
