Description: ALT US 60 goes through some of Louisville's loveliest, and ugliest, neighborhoods. On each assembly that I have seen, the word "Alternate" is always spelled out -- never just "ALT." ALT US 60 is rather odd, and barely justifies its existence. I guess its purpose is for US 60 traffic to avoid having to go through downtown, where mainline US 60 goes. But ALT US 60 goes through a ton of neighborhoods with stop lights, congestion, and narrow streets. Most folks would be just as well off taking US 60 through downtown. Admittedly, ALT US 60 is signed *much* better than US 60 is through Louisville's core.
