For only the sixth time, the NBA has crowned its unanimous Rookie of the Year, so the Wemby era has officially begun.

Quote from: seicer on Today at 04:56:50 PMI wonder if the US 60 Connectivity Study has anything to do with the lack of updates.

If they are going to study new corridors for better connectivity they should include a few alternatives with direct crossings to Missouri, with at least one south of Wickliffe.

I thought about that myself, but I don't think you'd really get much benefit if you routed it south of Wickliffe, especially considering you'd be crossing the BP-NM Floodway on the Missouri side.  Good luck getting the Corps of Engineers to go along with that.

I'm not even really sure the value aspect is there in the corridors they're actively looking at. The 2023 cost estimates of $1.2B-1.3B are more than triple that of the 51 bridge replacement, which I think comes in around $382.5 million.

Quote from: The Ghostbuster on April 18, 2024, 01:47:10 PMWhen the eastern-most segment of the Greenville Bypass is completed, what will become of existing US 82/278 from Old Hwy. 61 to just east of the Chruch St. intersection? Will the new roadways shown here: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.3980922,-90.897779,284m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu, become the eastern terminus of the old route, or will the old route be converted into a 2-lane cul-de-sac?

i bet they will cul-de-sac, seen a few of those on that stretch of 82 already west of I-55.

Quote from: gonealookin on Today at 07:59:31 AMI have never heard anybody locally argue that we need a freeway connection down to Vegas.  If a politician proposed that the political value would be to their opponent who would deride it as a colossal waste of money.
If it was in California, they'd be proposing a bullet train.

I mean, high-speed rail has been proposed as a better way to link the two than a freeway...but via the Central Valley. The Nevada State Rail Plan included such a possibility last I checked.

When I was a kid, we never had mail delivery to our whole block being one number off.  OTOH, it was not unusual for us to get mail for '(our number) EAST Our St' instead of '(our number) WEST Our St', and vice versa.  I assume that that was no longer a problem after the USPS split the 54911 ZIP Code, giving our part of the city '54914' (about 1980).

Quote from: kernals12 on April 27, 2024, 09:46:48 PMI sincerely hope ADOT plans repave the SanTan Freeway in Gilbert soon. The noise is just deafening.

I might be a bit late to respond to this but they have no intention of fixing the pavement on this section until they start the big widening project on Loop 202 between 101 and Val Vista Rd later this year. I remember reading Q4 2024 but I am not 100%. Looks like they are going to be adding two additional general purpose lanes in each direction between 101 and Gilbert Rd and one additional general purpose lane between Gilbert and Val Vista.

Hopefully they're extending the HOV lane further out past Gilbert?

Episode 2.12 of California Highways: Route by Route is the second of two episodes on Route 2. In this episode, we complete our exploration of Route 2. This time, we focus on the segments in Glendale and through the Angeles National Forest, roughly from US 101 to Route 138. We talk about the pre-freeway routing, the history of the Glendale Freeway, the proposals for an Angeles Forest Freeway, and the history of Angeles Crest Highway. This is the last episode of Season 2. We hope to do some bonus episodes during the season break while we complete writing Season 3, which will cover Route 3 through Route 7.

well it's either that or the scorn or death glare you get for not leaving a tip on the hutch.
