It's cooled off a little bit from earlier this week.

Looks like we'll warm back up for midweek.

Expecting some severe storms later today unless they form too far south. Only our 2nd 90 of the summer season so far yesterday. We'll see if we get #3 today before cooling off tomorrow.

Sunny and 68. Awaiting the heat that will arrive later this week.

I'll be in South Florida Wed to Sun this week, and the weather is expected to be surprisingly similar to back home! Thankfully, the week after the trip should cool off in Kitchener.

93 here and it's not even noon yet. Very unusual for just about any day, let alone mid-June.

How can you get 59 in Minnesota whereas its 88 degrees and partly sunny in the Tarheel state?

Reports on my own weather station out in the side porch area reported 89 degrees.

You wouldn't expect MN and NC to have the same weather to begin with.

59 in Minnesota and 90+ in Illinois is a lot more confusing/notable/impressive.

70, partly sunny and humid. Expecting the upper 9-s later today.

Nicest June weather I think I've ever seen here. Currently overcast and 78 degrees in the afternoon in Houston. Yeah, it's raining, and yeah, the beaches are flooding, but I'll take it.

Meanwhile the panhandle of Oklahoma just experienced a 1 in 1000 year rain event while no one was paying attention. It could always be worse.

Meanwhile the Northeast is getting Texas' usual weather. We are amidst one of the longest and most oppressive heat waves I can remember, with temperatures surpassing 90°F and heat index values above 100°F for the third straight day. The last few times I've gotten out of the car, my glasses have immediately fogged up, just like they do in the winter when going inside after spending time out in the cold. There's a heat advisory in effect through tomorrow night, and thanks to the accompanying humidity, we've reached the point where people are actively avoiding the outdoors. Seeing local parks nearly empty in mid-June is strange to say the least.

The moisture effects from Tropical Storm Alberto has brought some much-needed rain and a welcome (albeit temporary) relief from the heat.  Corpus Christi has failed to reach 90 degrees for the first time since May 11, snapping 38 consecutive days, while Laredo is fallen short of 90 degrees for the first time since April 19 ending a streak of 61 straight days.  TS Warning in effect for most of the Texas coast and as far inland as US-77.  Up until now we were falling behind by over a half-foot of rainfall at Corpus Christi Int'l Airport so far this year; Alberto will erase that deficit and even turn a surplus in places along TX-44.

                                    ACTUAL                              AVERAGE
BROWNSVILLE:     90 high; 82 low                  96 high; 79 low
CORPUS CHRISTI:  89 high; 81 low                  95 high; 80 low
LAREDO:               88 high; 77 low                102 high; 77 low
MCALLEN:             91 high; 79 low                  99 high; 78 low

Nighttime Heat Index:  80-95 degrees
Daytime Heat Index:  100-109 degrees

When does anyone pay attention to the Panhandle, though?

Maybe they'll actually get to use Optima Lake for its intended purpose for once.

Rainy season was officially declared "over" here in Okinawa today. It had been dumping rain on us for over a month and a half, with almost no relief (maybe two sunny days in five weeks), and now there is zero rain in the forecast.

What has replaced rainy season is humid-as-balls season, though. Temps are going up, overnight around 80, getting up to around 86 or 87 during the day. I've retired to the gym for my runs, at least while I'm still training.
