You can make out Houston's skyline behind the chemical plants from the Fred Hartman Bridge in Baytown, give or take 22 miles away. Mighty impressive considering Houston has no hills.

Fred Hartman Bridge:

Also, you can barely make out Downtown from the NB ramp from the Grand Parkway to I-69 on the northeast side. Even more impressive at around 27 miles away.

You can make the Toronto skyline out from the Burlington Skyway here, distance of 50.55 km (31.41 mi).

Or a little clearer here from Niagara-On-The-Lake, 48.59 km (30.19) from the CN Tower

It is crazy that Niagara-on-the-Lake is closer to downtown Toronto than Burlington. Once you see the Toronto skyline from the Garden City Skyway, it doesn't feel like you're heading away from it, even though you really are until you get past Burlington.

The US Steel Tower in Pittsburgh can be spotted from this vantage point 15 miles away along McDowell Road in Canonsburg. It is just to the left of the light post in the middle of this photo.

The US Steel and BNY Mellon Towers in Pittsburgh can also be spotted from this vantage point (also 15 miles away) along Williamsport Road in Monongahela.

There are many points further out that one can spot the US Steel and BNY Mellon Towers, however they are not accessible (or visible) via Street View.

The Oct 2015 view from PA-31 at the top of Three Mile Hill does kind of have it.   You can barely make it out, and if you didn't know it was supposed to be there, I'm sure you'd miss it.

(There are newer images, but the conditions were not conducive to seeing that far on the horizon)

Not sure how far it is "as the crow flies"  - But it's a little over 46 miles by car.
I don't have opinions anymore. All I know is that no one is better than anyone else, and everyone is the best at everything

I think Three Mile Hill is arguably the best distant view of Pittsburgh because you can see more of the buildings than just US Steel and BNY Mellon. Here is a photo I took of that same viewpoint. You can make out the tips of One PPG Place, One Oxford Centre, Gulf Tower, and the Trimont Tower on Mt. Washington.

Here's Buffalo's skyline seen from US 219 North in Boston, about 25 miles away:

^ From what I can tell, I think this is the spot... if it is, that's just over 23 miles, which is not bad at all!

Buffalo can also be spotted from this point in Hamburg. It is only 10 straight-line miles south of Buffalo, but what makes this area significant is that it is possible to see the Niagara Falls (ON) skyline and the tip of the CN Tower in Toronto from this area. You can't see them on Street View but I saw a photo on another forum that confirms this.

I finally got a good vantage point on GSV. This is downtown Detroit from Metro Beach at the end of Metro Parkway (aka 16 Mile Road). You can see the Ren Cen to the left and the rest of the skyline to the right.

You can also see it from Fair Haven further north.
